IMS open standards are a tremendous opportunity for carriers to leverage multivendor market offers to reduce costs for building their IMS network and getting a richer services portfolio. However, the resulting heterogeneity and the open modular architecture of IMS results in a complexity which needs to be carefully addressed all along the implementation of IMS. Testing as it is the last step to validate products or whole networks is then a key challenge in the successful roll out of IMS networks and delivery of multimedia services.
Marben Products released its HSS Emulator to help carriers and equipment vendors to answer this testing challenge. Aimed at being used at the early stage of development by equipment manufacturers, as well as in the latest stages of deployment at carriers, HSS Emulator is a tool designed to reduce development and deployment of IMS services and networks. Lightweight and easy to use, it secures your development and deployment by enabling you to set up an IMS testing infra-structure for a small investment and operation cost.

Marben has been elected to contribute to the new ETICS (Economics and Technologies for Inter-Carrier Services) project under the call FP7 ICT 1.1. Network for the future.
The major challenge for future deployments lies in having an effective collaboration between often competitive providers allowing dynamic and scalable solutions, while preserving confidentiality on providers’ assets. This ETICS project aspires to highly impact the technical leadership of the participating partners that includes larger European carriers - e.g. Deutsch Telekom, France Telecom, Telefonica, Telenor and British Telecom and large equipment vendors who will be in position to drive the roadmaps and standards for the future multi-service and multi-actors networks.
Part of such mission is to ensure a coordinated network control to ensure the expected QoS across Heterogeneous networks. Marben and its partners will propose evolutions in routing protocols, constrained-path computation, congestion control mechanisms and will leverage on existing standards (e.g. GMPLS, PCE, PCN) to design automated network management processes providing QoS interconnections.

Marben Products is proud to announce a new product in its IMS Solutions product line: MARBEN HSS Emulator.
HSS is a key piece of the IMS architecture. Being the central repository of the subscriber identity and profile, no access and no service can be delivered without an HSS. It is therefore critical that all authentication and subscriber data access and modification are carefully tested.
MARBEN HSS Emulator is an easy to learn, low foot print, run anywhere test tool empowering IMS and NGN service developers and integrators with an IMS authentication and user context storage function at a fraction of the cost on a commercial HSS. In addition, MARBEN HSS Emulator brings test and debug capabilities that allow them to monitor, test and debug all service activities related to authentication, user profile manipulation.
MARBEN HSS Emulator compliance to standards insures developers test their service in real conditions and get proof of adequate behaviour. MARBEN HSS Emulator is flexible and its testing capabilities makes it suitable for both isolated unit or component testing as well as large scale testing simulating near real use of the service.

October 23, 2008
For the first time in Fall 2008, GMPLS controlled Ethernet Label Switching has been introduced in the LEC interoperability testing. Ethernet has been dominant in the enterprise and data network for a long time. Wide-scale MAN and WAN deployments is made possible with the Provider Backbone Bridge (PBB) and the new IEEE 802.1Qay Provider Backbone Bridge – Traffic Engineering (PBB-TE) amendments of the Ethernet bridging standard. Operators are considering the use of PBB-TE connection oriented Ethernet in access and aggregation networks. It seems a natural step to use GMPLS to provision and reconfigure PBB-TE connections in Ethernet networks.
Marben Products once again successfully participated in the Isocore interop testing around next generation Carrier Grade Ethernet. This event took place in the Isocore Lab October 23, 2008 in front of major equipment vendors.
Marben Products successfully created LSPs through different network elements. All combinations of initiating and terminating nodes were used to successfully create bidirectional LSPs. The new Ethernet Traffic Parameter SENDER_TSPEC object was used to specify distinct bandwidth requirements for multiple CoS and OAM parameters were signalled in LSP_ATTRIBUTES object of some of the PATH messages. Full path rerouting was even demonstrated by simulating data plane failure on the egress node.
